Day 3 of Homestead Festival

It’s the final day of the 40th annual Homestead Festival in Princeton, featuring plenty of food and entertainment at Soldiers and Sailors Park on South Main Street.  The Bureau County Pork Producers are serving butterfly pork chop sandwiches and pork dinners.  Today’s highlights include the Princeton Lions Club pancake breakfast, a barbecue ribs cook-off, and the 31st annual Homestead Festival Car Show on Main Street.  There’s also a flea market at the fairgrounds, children's tractor pull, a worship service, music by the Generics, and a petting zoo.  In addition, a reading of 2,977 names, all of those who lost their lives on 9-11, begins at 7:46 am at Veteran's Park across from City Hall.  The Festival 56 theater group presents "The Guys", a play based on actual events of the 9-11 terrorist attacks in the US.  Other events include tours of the Owen Lovejoy Homestead, exhibits at the Prairie Arts Center, and an arts and crafts show on the courthouse lawn.
