No injuries after Amtrak vs. trailer collision
There are no injuries but undoubtedly a lot of frightened passengers after an Amtrak train collided with a trailer parked on a railroad crossing in western Bureau County this morning. At about 8:30, a service truck pulling a trailer with power poles on it had parked at the first crossing west of Neponset. The trailer apparently was still on the tracks as the train approached. The train struck the end of the trailer, snapping some of the poles in half and scattering them onto the highway. Although there were no injuries, the engine of the train did sustain damage and will have to be repaired before the train can resume it’s route.
