Zearing Park to get a new walkway
In the interest of being a good neighbor, Christ Community Church is donating a sidewalk connecting their parking lots with the jogging path at Zearing Park. At last night’s Princeton Park District board meeting Chuck Read, representing the church, explained the walkway would be five feet wide and approximately 120 feet long. The church will donate all materials. Executive Director, Elaine Russell, said the board would work together with the church to make this happen. In other business Aquatics Coordinator Beth Coleman reported a savings this year during the months of July through September over last year of $11,706 in salaries, food purchased and programs. Coleman also showed an increase in revenues during the same time frame from food sold, programs and pool receipts of $336 compared to last year. The savings were due to having one less lifeguard, not hiring a cashier or maintenance person for the pool, and closing two hours early. Increased revenue was due to selling more food and drinks, doubling the pool rentals by closing early and doubling the pool passes. Coleman said her goal every year is to bring in double what she spends.
