Princeton City Council hears new business presentation
Have you ever wanted to start your own business? You could get some help from a new program in Princeton. Jerry Newman and Joni Hunt of the Retailers Development Group gave a presentation about a business Incubator Program at Monday night’s Princeton City Council meeting. The Retailers Development Group is a non-profit organization that’s focused on finding a means to attract, maintain and grow retail businesses on Main Street. The incubator program is designed to speed up the successful development of entrepreneurial endeavors through affordable support resources and services. This incubator program called “Opportunity Knocks” will identify two-to-four entrepreneurial businesses through an application process. Start-up capital for this program in the amount of twelve to fifteen thousand dollars will be obtained through donations from businesses and individuals. With this funding the Dunbar building will be leased and renovated to house the new businesses. If you are interested in applying, contact Kim Frey at the Princeton Chamber of Commerce office. In other business, Mayor Cain appointed Amy Chamberlain to the Tourism Board and the water department announced the citywide water main flushing will take place on October 3rd between the hours of 7a.m. and 4p.m. It will continue for approximately two weeks. Customers may experience a strong chlorine odor, cloudy or discolored water and brief periods of low water pressure. Questions may be addressed by calling the Water Plant at 815-879-8066.
