Former Princeton school administrator Cherrie dies at 75
We also lost this week a former administrator and superintendent at Princeton High School. Carl Cherrie died Sunday at age 73. He began his local career in education at Wyanet High School, where he was a teacher and coach from 1960 to 1962. He spent a couple of years at Rockridge High School before returning to Princeton High School in 1965 where he would spend the next 31 years. an administrator and superintendent of Princeton High School. He was a member of the Bureau Valley Chapter of Ducks Unlimited, serving as chairman from 1976 to 1982. He was a past member of the board of directors for the Bureau County Day Care Center where he also chaired the first day care dinner/auction. He was a board member for the Red Cross from 1972 to 1976, serving as chairman from 1977 to 1984. He joined the Rotary Club in 1983, co-chaired their first party/auction and served as president in 1988-89. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. September 29 in the Summers Chapel at Oakland Cemetery, Princeton. Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton is handling the arrangements.
