PES passes a deficit budget

The Princeton Elementary School Board held a special meeting before the regular board meeting last night to review the fiscal year 2012 budget. PES Superintendent Tim Smith summarized the budget saying it is a plan the board can work with.  During the regular meeting the board unanimously voted to adopt the budget.  In other business, Smith gave an update on the revenue due to PES by the State of Illinois. As of September 30, 2011, almost $56,000 is still

owed for fiscal year 2011 and over $356,600 is owed for fiscal year 2012.  Smith then announced the following upcoming events: tonight, September 27th a fund raiser will be held to benefit the elementary school at Monical’s Pizza; Thursday, September 29th Senator Adam Kinsinger will be at Jefferson School at 2 p.m. to read a “House Mouse” book to the students and to discuss laws and legislation with school board members; the public is invited; Monday, October 24th at 5 p.m. at Logan Jr. High State Senator Darin LaHood and Representative Don Moffitt will meet with board members to discuss the state of education in Illinois before the upcoming veto session. The regular school board meeting will be held that evening at 6:30 p.m.; and on Saturday, October 29th the PES Plays group will hold a fundraiser with proceeds to go towards new playground equipment.
