Bomb scare in Princeton

A bomb scare continues on the north end of Princeton.  Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson confirmed McDonald's, Burger King, and Roma’s restaurants have been evacuated due to a bomb threat.  People are being advised to avoid the area.  According to Princeton Police Chief Tom Root, at about 6:20 this evening, Culver’s received a phone call claiming a bomb was to go off at Burger King and McDonald’s in about 6 minutes.  The male caller then hung up the phone.  Princeton Police were called in, secured the area and evacuated Burger King, McDonald’s and Roma’s.  They also set up a perimeter around McDonald’s and Burger King.  Bomb dogs were called in from Springfield to carefully search each building.  Root says although the bomb didn’t go off in 6 minutes, they still have to take all precautions to make sure the threat is a hoax.  Root says they do have a possible suspect in custody.  He was being treated at Perry Memorial Hospital’s emergency room after apparently suffering a seizure in the police squad car.  Root said after he’s treated at the E-R he would be taken to the police department and interviewed.
