Winter has arrived

Winter weather has arrived.  A Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow is in effect until 4 am tomorrow for the entire listening area.  Snow is expected to continue throughout the day and most of tonight.  Accumulation of around 3 inches is likely.  Along with the snow, up to 35 mph wind gusts will create blowing snow and dangerous wind chills around zero or below.  State officials are warning people to be prepared in the event of an emergency.  Patti Thompson, with the Illinois Emergency Management Association, says drivers should make sure their cars are packed with an emergency kit.  It should include a blanket, a flashlight, water, and snacks.  Also, be sure to keep your cellphone by your side.
