Princeton City Council passes several resolutions and ordinances

princeton-sealThe Princeton City Council passed four resolutions abating the 2011 levy of taxes totaling more than 8.1 million dollars in General Obligation Bonds at Monday night’s meeting. The Council also passed an ordinance agreeing to purchase 109 replacement induction light bulbs for over 24-thousand dollars from Northpoint Energy of Prospect Heights, Illinois. According to Mayor Cain these bulbs will go in several subdivisions around Princeton and be brighter than the ones they have now. The city was awarded a grant from the North Central Illinois Council of Governments in the amount

of 33-thousand dollars to cover the cost.  In other business the Mayor re-appointed Maureen Dressler to the Tourism and Visitors Board and appointed newcomer Jay Schneider to replace Ann Dittmer on the same board. The Mayor also proclaimed January 29th through February 3rd, 2012 as Catholic Schools Week.  Mayor Keith Cain announced that the council will be meeting in closed session on February 17th to review the candidates for the City Manager position. The Council will then conduct interviews on February 23rd and 24th making a decision shortly after that.
