Metro Center fixes long-term pool leak

The Bureau County Metro Center pool was closed yesterday to find a water leak that has been going on for several years. Maintenance Coordinator Mike Anderson reported at Monday’s Princeton Park District board meeting that since he couldn’t find the leak he called in the American Leak Detection company from Dixon. The pool had to be drained for testing. The company successfully located the leak and fixed it. According to Anderson the park district was losing 24-hundred gallons of water per day, not to mention the

loss of chemicals and heat. The cost to fix it was 24-hundred dollars. Anderson also discovered that the pool was being charged for sewer usage when no water was going into the sewer. The problem was due to having one meter measuring sewer and pool water together. Anderson installed another separate meter for pool water and saved the park district 300 dollars in the first month alone.  In other business Executive Director Elaine Russell reported that the Princeton Park District has retained an A-plus rating from Standard and Poor’s for another year.
