Illinois Legislature Signals No Raises
(Springfield, IL) -- State lawmakers are sending a dismal message to Governor Pat Quinn and the 44 public-sector unions as they get ready for contract negotiations. State workers hoping to receive annual pay increases will have to wait for the state to inch its way back from the fiscal cliff.
Champaign Bus Company To Fix Safety Violations
(Champaign, IL) -- The owner of a Champaign bus company says he'll bring his vehicles into compliance after safety violations were noted. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration uncovered three violations during an inspection of Lincolnland Express. It says that LEX will have to shut down if the violations are not corrected by December 7th.
Jail Officer Accused Of Misconduct
(Urbana, IL) -- A woman who was working as a Champaign County correctional officer is being charged with misconduct. Sara Garrett was charged yesterday in connection with a September 28th incident at the
county jail. She allegedly told one inmate that another one was wearing a wire. The inmate that was wearing the wire was beaten by another inmate.
IDOT Issues Winter Driving Recommendations
(Chicago, IL) -- The winter driving season is quickly approaching and IDOT is getting ready for harsh conditions on the roads. The "Ice and Snow - Take It Slow" campaign has been launched. Officials say drivers should start preparing for ice and snow on the roads. They urge people to slow down, buckle up, drive sober, and don't text and drive.
