The 2012-2013 Tax Levy Ordinance was presented for the second time at Monday’s Princeton City Council meeting. The 2013-2014 estimated budget total is $24,897,000, sources other than the tax levy came to $23,323,158, and the money raised by the 2012-2013 tax levy is $1,573,842. The tax ordinance passed. The first reading of an ordinance for the sale of surplus city property was read by Commissioner Terry Madsen. There is finally some interest in the 1980 aerial fire truck that had been posted online for quite a while. There was some discussion of moving up the starting time of the city council meetings from 7:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Despite some mixed feelings on the matter, the council will test the 7:00 time beginning with the first meeting in January 2013. Commissioner Ray Swanson announced that due to the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday on November 22 and 23, Thursday’s garbage and recycling routes will be collected on Monday, November 26th and Friday’s routes will be collected on Tuesday, November 27th. The city Street Department asks residents to set your garbage and recycling out by 5:00 AM. And Mayor Keith Cain announced that City Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday, November 22nd and 23rd for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
