As expected, tuition is going up at Illinois Valley Community College. The IVCC Board of Trustees last night voted to raise tuition by 10 percent starting with the upcoming Summer semester. Less state money and property tax dollars are reasons the board gives for implementing the hikes. A credit hour at IVCC will now cost 101-dollars. That’s still below the state average of 108-dollars. The board also voted to either create or increase fees for more than 170 courses, and the cost of IVCC’s truck-driver training program is going up by 545-dollars. In other action, the board welcomed new trustee Everett Solon of Streator, who was appointed to a two-year term earlier this month.
