GOP Committee Meeting To Decide On Brady
The fate of Illinois Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady is in the hands of a GOP committee. The panel will meet this weekend to decide whether to fire Brady from his post. Some members of the party say Brady was off the mark when he announced his support for gay marriage, which is a platform Republicans have long stood against. Brady has ignored calls for his resignation.
Governor Calls For More Amtrak Spending
Governor Pat Quinn is looking to increase spending on Amtrak train service. Budget documents show 12-million dollars more is earmarked for passenger rail service in the state. That brings the total spent on additional trains between Chicago and routes ending in St. Louis, Carbondale and Galesburg to 38-million dollars. A federal law is making states pick up a bigger part of the cost for rail service.
Remember To Set Clocks Forward This Weekend
It's time to spring forward with most Americans setting their clocks ahead one hour this weekend. Daylight Saving Time begins at two o'clock tomorrow morning. That means you'll lose an hour of sleep but the trade off is an extra hour of daylight from now until November.
Blackhawks' Record Streak Ends With Loss To Avs
The Chicago Blackhawks saw their NHL-record streak come to an end on Friday with a 6-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche. It's the Blackhawks' first regulation loss of the season, dropping them to 21-1-and-3. The 'Hawks had started the season with at least a point in 24 straight games, losing just three total games, all in a shootout.
