U.S. Marshals selling Crundwell’s jewelry
The U.S. Marshals Service is auctioning more jewelry that belonged to Rita Crundwell, the former bookkeeper who embezzled almost $54 million from the City of Dixon. Among the 140 lots of jewelry are a $25,000 Rolex watch and a $4,200 gold bracelet. The jewelry will be sold Saturday via a live and webcast auction. The 60-year-old Crundwell was sentenced last month to 19 years in prison for stealing city funds to support a lavish lifestyle. She pleaded guilty to embezzling the money from 1991 until her arrest last April. The Marshals Service previously auctioned Crundwell's horses, homes, farms, household items and some jewelry. Prosecutors say they expect Dixon to recover about $10.5 million. You can check out the sale items at txauction.com.
