Unemployment Up In Illinois

Unemployment is up in Illinois.  The jobless rate rose in seven of the state's 12 metro areas in January.  The Department of Employment Security says our area was no exception.  Bureau County’s jobless rate was 12.1 percent,  LaSalle County’s was 13.5 and Putnam County 13.6, all up from January of 2012.  Marshall County’s rate was 10.8 percent, up 1.3 percent from a year ago.  Statewide, the unemployment rate is at 9 percent.  That’s down slightly from 9.1 percent in January of 2012.
