DePue’s library is receiving $94,000 from the state for repairs. Secretary of State Jesse White, who also happens to be the state librarian, was in DePue yesterday to present a ceremonial check to help for work to be done on the Selby Township Library. A large part of the money will go toward exterior work and new windows, as the building has been damaged by water and other elements over the years. While presenting the state grant, White said libraries are playing an increasingly important role, especially for people using it as part of a job search. The Selby Township Library district is providing at least $30,000 to match the state grant.
