Madigan Warns Illinois Residents About Scams
Attorney General Lisa Madigan is warning Illinois residents not to send money to people they don't know. Madigan traveled to John A. Logan College yesterday to talk about scams and consumer fraud, and said her office received over 26-thousand complaints last year alone. Madigan says it's unlikely that her office can get back any money once it leaves the U.S. She especially cautions elderly Illinois residents to be cautious with anyone asking them to send money anywhere for any reason.
Lawmakers Go After Deadbeat Parents
Lawmakers are going after deadbeat parents. A new bill seeks to go after people who win more than 30-thousand dollars at casinos, but skip out on their child support payments. The bill would require casino operators to check with the state's child support registry before cutting the big check. The bill has already passed a senate committee.
Two Area Airport Towers To Close
Two Chicago-area airports will be affected by the federal sequester. Officials say the towers at Gary/Chicago International and Waukegan Regional Airport are on the list to close. A total of 149 towers across the
country are scheduled to begin closing on April 7th.
Million Dollar Powerball Ticket Sold In Illinois
Someone in Illinois is a new millionaire. One lucky person matched five of the numbers from Saturday's 338-million dollar Powerball jackpot. That equates to a million dollars before taxes. The big prize went to a single player in New Jersey.
Chicago Tops New Late Night Delivery Survey
A nationwide online delivery ordering service says Chicago is number-one in the nation when it comes to late night food orders. Seamless says 14-percent of Chicago's delivery orders happen between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., which is tops in the country. New York and San Francisco tied for second, with Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. in third.
