The City of Princeton is saving some big money on bonds thanks to refinancing. At Monday's City Council meeting, John Vezzetti of Bernardi Securities, explained the city will save around $870,000 in interest due to refinancing of four outstanding bonds. Vezetti added the city will have the chance to refinance more bonds at the beginning of next year, allowing the possibility of another $500,000 in savings. Jan Bonucci was appointed to the Plan Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals, with her term running through April of 2016. The council gave final approval to the fiscal year 2013 budget. Mayor Keith Cain proclaimed April as "Child Abuse Prevention Month" and Cain was presented with a blue ribbon by the Youth Services Bureau of the Illinois Valley for his advocacy for children. The mayor urged all Princeton residents to get out and vote on Tuesday, April 9th.
