Tax Rush Likely Today
Millions of people across the state will be rushing to get their taxes in before tonight's deadlines. The tax returns must be filed electronically or postmarked by 11:59 tonight. Those who don't think they'll make the deadline can file for an extension. That'll push the deadline back six months, to October 15th.
Wisconsin Women Arrested For Human Trafficking In Illinois
Two Wisconsin women are behind bars, accused of human trafficking in River Grove, Illinois. Police say Elizabeth Roeder and Shannon Hathaway were busted Saturday after trying to sell a minor for sex on Backpage.com. The women were allegedly listed as escorts on the website and had reportedly posted pictures of the young girl. An officer responded to the ad and met up with the ladies at the Super Eight Motel. The two women were arrested and the child was returned to her family.
Woman's Body Pulled From DesPlaines River In Joliet
A family in Joliet may finally have some closure. Fishermen discovered a woman's body in the DesPlaines River Saturday morning, near Hollywood Casino. Police haven't released an official identification but it's believed to be the body of Jeanie Parker. Reports indicate the body had multiple stab
wounds. Parker's son Charles McCullum was arrested last month after reportedly confessing to stabbing his mother to death and dumping her body in the river.
Police Still Looking For Clues Into Highway Death
State police are still looking for clues into the death of a man found on I-57 last week. The man has been identified as William Mundy, from Warren, Michigan. A driver called police around 3:00a.m. Friday morning after reportedly running the body over near mile marker 38, in Union County. Police say no charges have been filed against that driver because they don't believe he was the one responsible for Mundy's death. Anyone with information should call 618-845-3740, extension 292.
Meat Recalled In Illinois
You may want to check your deli meat before packing a lunch for the kids this morning. The Manda meat packing company has issued a recall on roast beef, turkey, ham, pastrami, and other products sold in Illinois. The meats may be contaminated with Listeria.
