State Representative Frank Mautino of Spring Valley is announcing nine area libraries received grants ranging from $2,500 to $5,000 to buy new books and materials for patrons through a “Back to the Books” grant provided by the Illinois Secretary of State and Illinois State Library.The maximum-possible grants of $5,000 each go to LaSalle Public Library and the Ladd Public Library District. The Putnam County Public Library District gets $4,878 while the Richard A. Mautino Library in Spring Valley receives $4,475. Reddick Public Library in Ottawa is awarded $3,600 while $3,000 grants go to the Peru Public Library and Illinois Valley Community College. The Oglesby Public Library District gets $2,500, as does the Streator Public Library. Mautino says the grants will help bring new books and educational material to community libraries that may not have been able to afford it otherwise.
