Madigan Wants More Time To Appeal Gun Ruling
Attorney General Lisa Madigan wants more time to decide whether to file an appeal against a concealed carry ruling, which requires the state to pass a law by June 9th. Right now, Madigan has until May 23rd to file a petition but she wants the date pushed back to June 24th. The request doesn't impact the original June 9th date so lawmakers are racing against the clock to reach a deal. Otherwise, people will automatically be allowed to carry any gun they want in public, under what's known as "constitutional carry."
Schools Make Honor Rolls Too
About 15-percent of Illinois schools are selected to the state's Honor Roll for academic excellence. A little more than 600 of the four-thousand schools statewide were picked yesterday by the Illinois Board of Education for excellence in the classroom. Educators say Illinois schools
have faced more than 900-million-dollars in cutbacks since 2009.
