An Ottawa student who made it all the way to the Scripp’s National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. has been eliminated. Ram Koganti from Wallace Grade School was ousted yesterday even though he spelled both words he was given correctly. In the semifinals, he incorrectly defined the word “perfidy”. Earlier he correctly spelled vivace and guariba. Koganti was one of only 18 Illinois students to make the national spelling bee.
