A midday accident on Interstate 80 near Sheffield has left at least two people injured. The apparent crash between a car and semi happened just before noon Monday in the eastbound lane of I-80 near the Route 40 exit. That lane was shut down for a short time while a MedForce chopper landed to pick up an injured person and fly them to the Quad Cities. Another person was apparently taken by ambulance to Kewanee hospital. A witness on the scene told “First To Know News” that he saw three vehicles in the ditch south of eastbound I-80; an empty semi, a van, and a rental-style box truck that was on its roof. State police were on the scene, along with Sheffield and Annawan ambulance. All lanes of I-80 are open and we’ll have more information as it’s available.
