The investigation continues into a midday accident on Interstate 80 near Sheffield on Monday that left two people injured. The apparent crash between a car and semi happened just before noon Monday in the eastbound lane of I-80 near the Route 40 exit. That lane was shut down for a short time while a MedForce chopper landed to pick up an injured person and fly them to the Quad Cities. Another person was reportedly taken by ambulance to Kewanee hospital. A witness on the scene told “First To Know News” that he saw three vehicles in the ditch south of eastbound I-80; an empty semi, a van, and a rental-style box truck that was on its roof. District 17 State Police were on the scene, as were ambulances from Sheffield and Annawan. The investigation into the crash continues and we’ll have more information as it’s made available.
