The Princeton Park Board has approved the park district's Prevailing Wage Ordinance, something they do every year at this time. Also at this week's meeting, the board reviewed their budget. Park District Executive Elaine Russell says because the board was fiscally responsible over the last 2 years, they've been able to complete some projects in this fiscal year, ending June 30th. The projects include buying a new tractor and mower for $40,000, new exercise equipment for $13,700, and repairing the gym wall for $7,600. They also bought a new pool-heater for the Metro Center for $15,000 and sealed cracks on the Zearing Park path for $31,000. Some lighting upgrading was done as well. Russell says none of it would have been possible had the board and staff not taken the drastic measures they have over the past 3 years in re-evaluating their spending, making decisions based on needs and not wants. It was also announced that the July 1st board meeting has been cancelled, as well as the first meeting in August.
