Peoria Airport Repairs Could Be Pushed Back
(Peoria, IL) -- The time table for much needed repairs to Peoria's airport could hang on a decision on federal funding. Peoria International Airport has more than five-million dollars worth of renovations on the drawing board. Projects include repairs and new buildings. However, the completion date is "up in the air" until airport officials know how much money they'll receive from the FAA.
New Berlin Dedicates Veterans Memorial
(New Berlin, IL) -- The small community of New Berlin now has a Veterans Memorial to honor those who have served in the U.S. military. Hundreds gathered Saturday in the town west of Springfield for the dedication of the memorial. It features a six-foot-high granite monument for every branch of
the military, including the Merchant Marines. The memorial's nonprofit board raised 250-thousand dollars and received donations of materials and equipment to get the project completed.
Deadline Approaching To Enter Float In State Fair Parade
(Springfield, IL) -- Friday is the deadline for registering to have a float in the Twilight Parade at next month's Illinois State Fair. The parade will kick off the fair on August 8th. Floats will be competing for cash prizes. More information is available on the Illinois State Fair website.
