(Belleville, IL) -- The parents of an eleven-year-old Belleville boy killed by accidental gunfire are speaking out. In an interview with KMOV-TV in St. Louis, Danisha Combs asks gun owners to put their weapons in a lock box and store them in a safe place where kids can't find them. Her son
Leonard Smith Jr. was killed Tuesday night when a six-year-old family friend pulled a gun out of a drawer and shot Smith in the head. So far, no charges have been filed, but the state's attorney is reviewing the case.

(Beason, IL) -- The man convicted of killing five people in Beason is set to find out how long he'll be in prison. Christopher Harris will face a judge this afternoon. In May, a jury convicted him of using a tire iron to beat five members of the Gee family to death, back in September 2009. Harris denied the charges, but his brother, who was with him the night of the murders, testified against him. Harris faces a mandatory life sentence.
>>Doctor Extradited From Illinois To Nebraska
(Omaha, NE) -- The doctor accused of killing four people in Nebraska is no longer in Illinois. Doctor Anthony Garcia was extradited yesterday and later checked in at the Douglas County Department of Corrections in Omaha. He was arrested in Union County, Illinois, during a traffic stop on Monday. Garcia is accused of killing four people with ties to Creighton University medical school, where he once worked but was fired more than a decade ago for erratic behavior. He's facing four counts of first-degree murder but says he's innocent.
>>Fallen Heroes Remembered In Western Illinois
(Aledo, IL) -- Western Illinois is paying tribute to 13 soldiers killed in the War on Terror. The BU1 Jerry Tharp Fallen Heroes Ride will take place tomorrow at 10 a.m. Motorcycle riders will trek through Mercer, Knox and Warren counties in honor of the 13 soldiers from the area who gave their lives for freedom. Registration for the event is tomorrow from 8 a.m.until 9:45 a.m. at Aledo Central Park. Organizers are asking for a 15-dollar donation plus five-dollars for each rider.
