>>New Law Makes School District Reorganization Easier
(Springfield, IL) -- School districts in Illinois may have an easier time merging under a new law. The measure is designed to reduce barriers for school districts that want to voluntarily reorganize. Districts with fewer than 750 students could be dissolved through a school board resolution or a petition signed by a majority of the district's registered voters. Governor Pat Quinn signed the legislation yesterday.

(Washington, DC) -- Former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. has a little more time to pay money he owes to the feds. A federal judge has ruled Jackson has until late October to pay off the 750-thousand dollars in forfeitures. He's scheduled to be sentenced August 14th on campaign finance fraud.
>>State Grant Will Help University Of Illinois Airport Work
(Champaign, IL) -- Construction at the University of Illinois' airport is getting a financial boost from a state grant. Governor Pat Quinn's office says about 840-thousand-dollars will pay for new roadways and a new parking lot surface at Willard Airport in Savoy. The money is from the Illinois Jobs Now! capital program.

(Peoria, IL) -- The Spirit of Peoria is being invited to one of Louisville, Kentucky's exclusive parties. The event will honor one of its oldest and most well-known riverboats, The Belle of Louisville. It's the oldest operating Mississippi River-style steamboat in the world. The Spirit will be one of nine riverboats to arrive at the Kentucky port in October 2014.
