Members of TRI-DENT (Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team) arrested a husband and wife from Streator over the weekend for possession of bath salts. TRI-DENT executed a search warrant on the home of the 25-year-old man and the 47-year-old woman and charged them both with a class 4 felony of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. MDPV (Methylenedioxypyrovalerone), commonly known as bath salts, has psychological effects similar to amphetamine and cocaine, and is the same substance that killed a woman in Alton, Illinois in 2011. The couple was transported to LaSalle county jail and bond is set at $50,000.
Members of TRI-DENT also arrested a 30-year-old LaSalle man and charged him with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance when he sold 1.9 grams of cocaine to an undercover officer on the 110th block of 2nd street in LaSalle. The arrest occurred on Thursday, August 1st around 3:20PM and the man was transported to LaSalle County Jail. His bail is set at 1 million dollars.
