A red flag has been raised on a potential solicitation scam in Princeton. Bureau County Police were called yesterday afternoon for a solicitor complaint and questioned three men who were trying to sell black topping to Princeton residents. The three men approached a resident claiming that they had just finished a job at the new Princeton water treatment plant and had extra material to sell at a reduced rate. An officer approached the truck asking to see a solicitor's permit but the men said they did not have one. They also claimed they had been doing business in the area for years and never needed a permit. The Bureau County Officer told the men to register for a permit at the courthouse and alerted them that they had been red flagged.
