The Bureau County Board voted to approve AgriHunt Farms LLC's application to rezone approximately 4.5 acres of land in Wyanet yesterday despite emotional testimony from the surrounding neighbors. The 100+ acre hunting area sits near 1350 North Ave. and is currently zoned as agricultural land. AgriHunt Farms LLC's Founder and Owner Tom Gibson filed an application to rezone around 4.5 acres of land near the entrance to the hunting area as recreational campground to allow up to 10 camping vehicles to be parked on the grounds. Multiple neighbors of the hunting area provided emotional testimony during public comment claiming allowing the land near their homes to become campground would "ruin the country atmosphere, provide a visual and audible nuisance and disturb the peace and tranquility" of their rural neighborhood. The residents pleaded to the board to block Agrihunt LLC's application altogether. The county board deliberated on the issue for close to 1.5 hours before finally carrying a motion to allow Thomas Gibson's application to rezone the land.
