An off-duty Bureau County Sergeant helped end a dangerous situation before it got out of hand. Sgt. Trey Barker was driving on Kentville Rd. near Bradford just after midnight on Wednesday morning when he saw a barn fire on Co Road 1525. Barker alerted the residents of the house that was next to the burning barn and called in the fire to the Bureau County Sheriff's Police.
Troy and Angela Wall told officials that they were renting the house and had burned some brush earlier in the evening. Officials think that wind picked up and debris from the fire flew into the barn after a Sergeant noticed a trail of ashes from the brush pile. The owner of the property said nothing of value was in the barn and the fire is not suspected to be suspicious.
