UPDATE: 50-year-old Maurice O'Leary of Footsville, WI was driving the semi that rolled on its side yesterday near the I-180 and I-80 interchange. O'Leary was driving the truck tractor pulling a tanker semi trailer full of Urea Ammonium Nitrate when it tipped coming around eastbound entrance ramp. Illinois State Police released a statement that O'Leary was arilifted to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria and is being charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident.
ORIGINAL:According to Princeton Fire Department Officials, the semi-truck that rolled on its side this morning near the interchange between I-180 and I-80 was carrying a liquid fertilizer known as Urea Ammonium Nitrate. The truck tipped after the driver lost control on the eastbound ramp at the I-180, I-80 interchange. Traffic was slowed while the state police and other emergency crews attended to the accident and airlifted the driver to a hospital. An official at PFD said the driver was in "stable" condition. Emergency crews continue to clean up the wreck but traffic is reportedly moving at normal speeds.
