UPDATE: The investigation continues into the arrest of Peru doctor Constantino Perales after he was removed in handcuffs from his office in Peru on Sunday. Multiple sources are reporting that Perales received a pair of charges for allegedly delivering Xanax and Oxycontin to patients. Peru police as well as federal agents are investigating the case. WZOE First To Know News attempted to reach the :Lasalle County States Attorney, Peru Police and Dr. Perales office in Peru but were unable to receive a comment. Residents of the LP area and patients of Perales seem to be at a loss for words as one patient said, "this is a really big deal in Lasalle/Peru...I'm shocked and so are a whole lot of other people."

The NewsTribune reports the 62-year-old doctor was put in a squad car by Peru Police and Agents from the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration following a raid of his 7th street offices. Twenty officers participated in the raid just after 5pm yesterday and the NT reports Perales faces unspecified drug charges.
