(Undated) -- A tire factory in southern Illinois is expanding. Continental Tire will go ahead with a 129-million-dollar project in Mount Vernon. The firm cites increased demand as the reason for the upgrade Continental Tire already put 600-million into the facility in 2006.

(Champaign, IL) -- Illinois campus police say a student was swindled for a four-thousand-dollar car ride from the airport recently. Police say a new student from China was given a hand-written bill for 48-hundred dollars by the driver who took him to the Urbana campus from O'Hare. The student apparently paid the driver all he had at the time, more than 42-hundred-dollars.

(Springfield, IL) -- Members of the media will soon be allowed to bring cameras into Illinois court rooms. The Illinois Supreme Court ordered yesterday for all courthouses to change their "no camera" policies. In making its ruling the high court said the public has a right to know what's going on.

(Undated) -- The Labor Day holiday has the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers suggesting tips for staying safe when in the water this weekend. They say swimmers should have a buddy with them at all times in case trouble arises. Watch for the four signs that someone is drowning: the victim's head is back, mouth is open, they're not making any sounds and their arms are going in an "up and down" motion. The most important tip of all, wear a lifejacket whenever you're in the water.
