An accident on I-80 yesterday took 8 hours to clean up, and involved Haz-Mat crews. The crash happened in western Bureau County past route 40 when a truck carrying 42,000 lbs of tomatoes struck a tractor and tanker rig on the shoulder of the interstate. The crash occurred around 5:40 yesterday but it took a number of fire department’s hazardous-materials crews 8 hours to clean up the 38 hundred gallons of fuel that spilled on the road. The clean-up ended just after 1:50 AM this morning and the crash is still under investigation.
