For the first time in the case involving the La Salle County Sheriff’s office and a 33-year-old woman who says she was wrongfully strip searched, the Sheriff’s Office is speaking out.
In a statement released through the Sotos law firm, the legal team says they are “anxious to defend the claims in court” and that Sheriff’s officers have been “battered by a barrage of false accusations”.
According to the statement, the plaintiff, Dana Holmes was placed in a padded cell so she would calm down after kicking at a female officer twice.
It also says a female officer provided her a tear proof suit and blanket for her safety less than a minute after her street clothes were taken.
The statement also says that no other women have filed complaints against the office, as reported by Holmes’ Attorney Terry Ekl, and that the officers have been receiving death threats due to the accusations.
