Gladys Boyer

80-year old Gladys Boyer of Princeton died Sunday at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.  Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 7 at Grant-Johnson Funeral Home, Princeton.  Services are Thursday at 10 at First United Methodist Church, Princeton with military rites by the Buda American Legion.  Burial in Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, Princeton / Gateway Services, Princeton or Perry Memorial Hospital, Princeton.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Gladys Boyer had worked at In-Home Care VNA, the Bureau County Health Department, and Kewanee Hospital.  She had also served in the Army Nurse Corps Reserve, and at Army medical centers in Colorado, California, Iowa and Pennsylvania.  She volunteered as Parish Nurse for the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton, also the Buda Rescue Squad for 13 years, was a Bureau County American Red Cross Nurse, and board member for In-Home Care VNA and Bureau County Hospice.  She was a member of the Princeton American Legion and Women of the Princeton Moose Lodge.


She had been a Colonel in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp Reserve from 1965 to 1989, receiving the service medals of Army Commendation, Army Achievement, Armed Forces Reserve, and Army Reserve Components Achievement.
