Elza Moses
104-year old Elza Moses of Tiskilwa died on Friday at Liberty Village in Princeton. Services will be Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at the Norberg Memorial Home. Pastor Todd N. Krost will officiate. Luncheon will immediately follow the funeral at the Tiskilwa Community Church. Burial will be private on Thursday, February 21st. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon at the Norberg Memorial Home.
He was born in a sod house on Sept. 26, 1908 in Arapaho, Oklahoma to Marion and Emma (Monk) Moses. He attended school near North Star, Nebraska. He married Vivian Freese on September 15, 1930 in Fullerton, Nebraska. He and his family moved to Illinois in 1939. He and Vivian were married 82 years. She survives. He was a life-long farmer in Nebraska and Illinois. He also drove school buses for Tiskilwa schools and St. Louis Catholic School. He was an active member of Tiskilwa Community Church.
Elza is survived by his wife of 82 years, Vivian Moses, of Princeton, formerly of Tiskilwa. Also surviving are three daughters: Bonnie Halberg of Peoria, Judy Speers of Maine, and Nita Wyatt of Wyanet. Surviving as well are nine grandchildren, 28 great-granchildren, 19 great-great grandchildren, numerous step-great and step-great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Norma Moses and Iona (Ed) Bartman, one grandson, Tommy Bartman and seven sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the Tiskilwa Rescue Unit or the Tiskilwa Community Church.
