Donald McNally

Donald A. McNally, 81, of Arlington, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 in his home, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Services will be held 9:45 a.m. Thursday in the Fiocchi Funeral Home, Cherry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Cherry, with Rev. Patrick Fixsen officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota with military honors by the Ladd veterans memorial group. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a rosary recited at 6:45 p.m.

Donald was born on May 26, 1931 in Troy Grove to Joseph J. and Marion (Becker) McNally. He was a self employed farmer and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 150 having worked many years with Universal Contracting and other contracting firms. He married Virginia Holler on May 2, 1953 in Holy Cross Church, Mendota. He had served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 in Germany. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Cherry, where he had served as an usher, the Ladd American Legion, the Mendota Elks Lodge, the Ladd Moose Lodge, the Bureau County Farm Bureau and the Midwest Operators Engineer Union for 49 years.


He is survived by: his wife, Virginia McNally of Arlington; his children, Debra (Vern) Gillan of Bloomington, Carol (Ron) Pinter of Freeport, Donald R. (Connie) McNally of Arlington, and Steve (Tina) McNally of Troy Grove; 8 grandchildren, Aaron and Brian Gillan, Ray and Jim Pinter and Ashlee, Emilee, Tim and Elizabeth McNally, 1 great grandson, Hudson Pinter; and 4 siblings, Joseph (Mary Lou) McNally of LaSalle, Bill “Murph” (Sandy) McNally of Triumph, Mary Dankenbring of Triumph, and Doris Dissinger of Granville.
Donald was preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother.
