William “Bill” B. Morel, 87, of Cherry, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2013, St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, in the Fiocchi Funeral Home, Cherry, with Rev. Sue Graham of the Cherry Congregational United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in Restland Cemetery, Mendota, with military honors by the Ladd Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Bill was born on November 16, 1925 in Peoria to Emile and Irene (Nickel) Morel. He had served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946 as a B-24 nose gunner in Italy. He married Helen Foster on July 4, 1948 in Mendota. He had worked for Interlake, formerly Conco Inc., in Mendota for 38 years. He was a member of the Cherry Congregational United Church of Christ and the Ladd American Legion.
He is survived by: his wife, Helen Morel, of Cherry; his daughter, Pamela (Thomas) Reh of Dekalb; his son, Paul (Mary Kay) Morel of Maineville, Ohio; 3 grandchildren, Emily (Chris) Ordlock, Kate (Terry) Hoffman, and Jeremy (Rebecca) Miller; 6 great grandchildren; his sister, Shirley Data of Bolingbrook; and many nieces and nephews.
