George R. Hand
Memorial service for George R. Hand, age 82 of Princeton, will be Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the First United Methodist church in Princeton. Burial will be private and at a later date. A Luncheon and fellowship with the family will follow in the church hall from 2 - 4 PM.
George R. Hand passed away on Monday, May 06, 2013 at Colonial Rehab and Nursing Center in Princeton. He was born on Apr 28, 1931 in Sheffield, Illinois to Frank Dextar and Louisa Johanna (Phillips) Hand. He graduated from Manlius High school in 1951. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He received a Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star and a Korean Presidential Citation. He worked at Champion for many years and later retired as a guard from the State Prision in Pontiac, Illinois. He was an associate of First United Methodist Church in Princeton. He was a member of the Annawan VFW. George married Josephine Kathleen Trujillo on November 8, 1952 at Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas. She died on January 3, 2013.
Surviving as well are five children, George P. (Cindy) Hand of Princeton; Charles W. Hand of Cochiti Lake, New Mexico; Susan K. (Harold) Miller of Wyanet; James A. (Pam) Hand of Princeton; and Brian S. (Lisa) Hand of Rock Falls, 18 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Fern Stabler of Neponset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and six siblings.
