Michael Wade Martin1948-2013
Funeral service for Michael "Mack" Wade Martin, age 64 of Princeton, will be Monday, May 20, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Norberg Memorial Home. Pastor Tim Batchelor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Elm Lawn Memorial Park on May 20, 2013. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Norberg Memorial Home.
Mr. Martin passed away in a household accident on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at his daughter's home in North Pekin, IL. He was born on Jun 07, 1948 in BeeBe, Arkansas to John M. and Wada D. (Blasingame) Martin. He graduated from Monette High School in Arkansas in 1966 and later in life attended college for his CDL and HVAC. His family moved to the Rock Falls area after he graduated. He worked at NW Steel and Wire before he joined the US Army. He served for two years, mainly in Germany as a mechanic. He then worked at LTV Steel for 34 years, worked for the Illinois State Unemployment Office, and was currently working at IDOT in the Princeton Barn. He married Marjorie Miller on June 14, 1968 at the Southern Baptist Church in Rock Falls. He volunteered for an ambulance service for 15 years. Mike was also and avid hunter and fisherman. He was a lifelong Baptist and attended various churches during his life.
Mike is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Marjorie Martin, of Princeton. Also surviving is one daughter Michelle Burbridge of North Pekin, IL and one grand-daughter Jade. Surviving as well are four brothers: Burnis (Venedia) Martin of Monette, Arkansas, Troy (Sue) Martin of Jonesboro, Arkansas, John D. (Kaye) Martin of Hope Arkansas and Mark (Mary) Martin of Rock Falls and two sisters Bea (J.W.) Smithee of Rock Falls and Phyllis Flier of Pekin and one sister-in-law Kay Martin of Leesburg, Alabama. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Patricia Bridges, one brother Larry Martin and two nephews, Tony and Marty Smithee.
