89-year old Max Swinford, a resident of Oneida, Wisconsin and Bonita Springs, Florida died at home on Friday, June 21st.
He grew up on the family farm, was a Marine sergeant during WWII, obtained a Bachelors in education from Eastern Illinois University and a Masters degree in education from the University of Illinois. He was a teacher for 36 years, for the most part in the field of Industrial Arts. He also coached football, basketball and track.
He is survived by his wife Betty, a son Randy Swinford of Princeton, and daughter Mary Swinford of Green Bay, WI. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded by one son, Lonnie.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 pm in the Laird Funeral Home in Elgin. Burial will follow in River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee. Visitation is Saturday from 1–3 pm in the funeral home.
