Alma Irene PolsonIrene was born on October 14, 1925 to Frank and Ellen Polson of rural Princeton, and died in Princeton on July 26, 2013. After graduating Princeton high school, Irenewent on to receive degrees from Augustana College and Northwestern University, She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She taught English and French in high schools in Illinois but mainly in Chicago. During her teaching career, Irene traveled to universities in the United States and abroad to further her education and interests. She also worked as a legal secretary. She was a published poet, authored a childrens book, and diligently worked on Polson/Adamson genealogy. At an early age she learned piano and eventually the organ as a challenge. Irene was a private person who found great pleasure in her books and music. She was a member of First Lutheral Church in Princeton. Her family thanks those people who gave her care during her illness and final hours.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents, brother Roger Polson, sisters Virginia Schneider and Lucille Robinson. She is survived by one sister, Eunice Peterson of Oro Valley, AZ, niece Christine (Martin) Gruber, great-nephew Marty (Elizabeth) Gruber of nearby Chicago, and several cousins.
