IVCC Women open March 15 at NJCAA nationals

The Illinois Valley Community College women’s basketball team will open National Junior College Athletic Association championship play at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 15.

The sixth-seeded Eagles, 29-3, will take on 11-seed Monroe College of the Bronx, N.Y., (25-5) in the first round of the 16-team, Division II, District L finals at Illinois Central College in East Peoria.

The Eagles set a women’s school record for wins with their 73-61 home win over Kishwaukee Saturday to capture the college’s third straight Region IV title. In two seasons under coach Pat Cinotte, IVCC is 57-10 with two national tournament appearances. Over the last three years, IVCC is 84-17.
