IVCC Eagles fall in opener

The Eagles haven't been eliminated, but they are not contending for a title anymore.

The Illinois Valley Community College women's basketball team lost in their first round of Division II NJCAA championship play.  They fell to Monroe College of the Bronx 82-61 Tuesday afternoon.  Julie Haye led the Eagles with 21 points while Shannon Washington added 13 and Nyzera Fleming 11.  The women's team went 29-3, capturing the district title last week.  The Eagles will continue in consolation play against Kankakee College at 3:00 Wednesday afternoon.
